The Onion: “Do You Remember Life Before the Segway?”
Posted in Video on May 2nd, 2007 by Eric FranklinAs someone who worked at Amazon.com, the only authorized seller of the Segway, at the time of release, I well recall the hooplah around the device. I also remember wealthy employees zooming through the halls and offering people free trial runs. Oddly, I never see them anymore.

I was just thinking the other day about how the Segway has changed my life in almost every way — I don’t know how I got around before it. What did I do? Walk?

As I started my ride from Wedgwood to downtown for work at Amazon today, I was pondering the same thing.
Holding up traffic as I giddily rolled from sidewalk to street, nary a hitch in the perfect-blanced ride. The automobiles have not yet adapted to me and I’ve been hit multiple times, but there is nothing like the feel of the wind in your hair at 12.5 miles per hour. Everyone is jealous.
On a more serious note: have you looked at the segway site? There are all sorts of new models and the stats seems to have improved drastically since the first rev. I could now actually commute from home to work on a single charge which seems like a nice milestone. I’m still not buying one anytime soon.

Have I checked out the new site?!? Hell, it’s my homepage! I like to check it 3-4 times per day to make sure I’ve got the latest Segway-cool-bling.
